Can I provide my own fabric or leather?
Yes. Customer-supplied material can be used when it is suitable for the furniture and upholstery method. Olek can also help evaluate yardage, pattern repeat, direction, durability and whether the textile or leather will behave correctly on the piece before it is cut.
Do you replace the padding and springs, or only the fabric?
Olek evaluates the complete upholstery system. Depending on condition and goals, work can include webbing, coil springs, spring tying, horsehair, cotton, latex, foam, down cushions and other layers—not just the visible cover. Serviceable original construction can also be retained when appropriate.
Can original leather or upholstery material ever be conserved and reused?
Sometimes. If original fabric or leather is significant to the design, history or sentimental value of the furniture, Olek can assess whether it should be conserved, stabilized, retained or carefully reinstalled over a restored upholstery foundation. Continued use depends on condition and the demands that will be placed on the piece.

Yes. Olek has longstanding experience with antique and Mid-Century Modern furniture. Designer pieces may require specific cushion profiles, natural latex or other original-type materials, hand sewing or construction details that should be preserved rather than replaced with a generic upholstery build. Yes, when the surviving construction, references and available materials allow it. The goal can be to reproduce the original feel and silhouette rather than simply making the piece softer or firmer.
